Toledo’s First & Longest-Running Sub Shop
Located on Broadway, just south of Downtown Toledo, The Original Sub Shop and Deli is Toledo's first and longest running sub shop. Opened in 1979 by Jackie & Sarkis David, Original Sub introduced submarine sandwiches to Toledo. Over 36 years, the Davids perfected the sub shop, from their great collection of soups, distinct takes on traditional deli salads, and, of course, their amazing secret sub sauce.
New Beginnings with Maux: A Legacy Continues
36 years later, Maureen Brogan purchased Original Sub and Jackie & Sarkis decided to pack up their bread knives and head off to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. Maux, a long time fan and customer of the Shop, continues to carry on the traditions of the Davids (including their sub sauce, which she has dubbed "Awesome Sauce"), while introducing new sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts.
Fresh, Local Ingredients in Every Bite
Original Sub prides itself on its fresh ingredients, scratch-made soups and sauces, and locally-sourced cheeses, jams, and seasonal veggies. We serve every sandwich on fresh-baked All Crumbs Artisan Bakery breads, spend every Saturday morning at the Farmers' Market collecting inspiration and ingredients, and love working with our local vendors any chance we can get.
